A lady in my Twiddle Muff knitting class mentioned that she and her son had made the Knit a Bunny From A Square Pattern. It's something that I looked at a few years back and found ingenious - who comes up with these things? I'm guessing origami had some kind of influence in it. Anyway, I came across this video which wasn't around when I first came across the pattern and I have to say I think her bunny looks better than the other patterns I've come across. Our new knitting club starts the second week in January so I'm going to ask my fellow Twiddle Muffer if she wouldn't mind leading on a bunny making sessions (or two) for Easter. I'm hoping the group will become self funding and they'll make great little fundraising items. I'll have a little play around with the pattern myself and see If I can come up with a design that will be able to hold a chocolate easter egg. The video below shows a more complex rabbit. The video concentrates on machine knitting to create the square but a square of knitting is a square of knitting. Hand knit a square making your fabric as wide as it is long and you're good to go! And seeing as I'm on a bunny making roll, here's a crochet version.
